Service Projects

Our mission at the Bay Area Quilt Guild is to create a fun, loving, and helpful environment for the quilting community. We do by meeting regularly, creating resources and hosting events for members, and serving the community through our quilting creations.

Our Guild’s Service Committee is regularly searching for new ways to serve the community. We have an abundance of fabric, patterns, thread, and batting to make donation quilts. If you know have a need and think we might be a good partner to come alongside your group, please email info@bayareaquiltguild.org.

The guild has a number of organizations that are recipients of our quilts and other items we make throughout the year. If you have an organization you would like to be considered as a recipient, please contact the Service Project Chairperson. All Guild members are encouraged to participate in making service projects, but it is not a requirement; it is all voluntary. And for the quilts, it is a joint effort, as some members like to piece the quilt tops, some like to quilt, some like to bind – through everyone’s efforts, it all gets done.

One meeting each year is dedicated to service projects. This is a fun filled day where members gather to make quilts, cool neck ties, turbans, and other items for the Guild's service projects. Even if you don’t have time to spend the entire day with us, you can come for a few hours and help cut, bind, iron, etc. There is always something to do at every level of expertise. This is also a great way to get to know your fellow members a little better after spending the day with them! We usually end the day with a great meal and great conversation.

  • We delivered 67 quilts to U.S. Vets, Inc. where we were given the grand tour. Everyone involved was very appreciative and we were invited to their Christmas party where the quilts were given out to members of the group.

  • The Guild shared a quilt to be auctioned as a fundraiser for the Arbor School in Houston, which serves children with special needs.

  • We donated a quilt to be auctioned as a fundraiser for The Bridge Over Troubled Water’s new children’s facility. The Bridge Over Troubled Water is a shelter in Pasadena. We are also continue to supply quilts for single parent families when they progress into their own home.
