Service Projects

As an ongoing activity during the year, Guild members make crib size and lap size quilts for local charitable organizations. Tote bags and small pillows are also made, as well as various other useful items. A Service Project sew day is held once or twice a year. This is a day of fun and competition where members try to make as many quilts as possible.

From July 2013 to June 2, 2014 our guild was able to give away 100 quilts, 204 fleece chemo hats, 55 crochet or knit chemo hats and 40 turbans {Most of the hats were made by Carole Falcone}.
These service projects were taken the The Bridge, Brooke Army Medical Center, Child Advocate, 2 people who lost homes in fires and Deke Slayton Cancer Center.

In recent years the Guild has presented local charitable organizations with an estimated 786 quilts, 20 recieving blankets, 30 preemie hats, and 11 walker caddies. The Guild also made 316 fleece chemo hats, 55 crochet or knit chemo hats, 40 turbans, 508 Bags and pillows, and 382 pillows for M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. The bags & pillows, and individual pillows were for breast cancer patients.
